Today, General Daly presented two families, both from the Vietnam era, a Gold Star Banner in a shadow box on behalf of the Veterans Coalition (NAVFOC). As has been the case for the past 12 years, the shadow boxes were built by R.C. Reville with the support of ASMDA. There is a small plaque on the back of each which reads: “Handcrafted by R.C. Reville, Lt Col, USAF (Ret.) and presented on behalf of ASMDA – 11 November 2020.” An email from one of the Gold Star Banner recipients, Julie Kink, whose brother David was killed in Vietnam on 3 August 1969 is shared below:
Amidst the nation’s social distancing in response to COVID-19, some children will still be reaching for the stars.
The Air, Space and Missile Defense Association is offering 16 scholarships for selected children to attend a weeklong Space Camp from June 28 to July 3 at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.

REDSTONE ARSENAL, Alabama – More than 350 high school juniors from across the Tennessee Valley toured Redstone Arsenal to learn about opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, during the 18th annual Adventures in Engineering Oct. 30.
The event is aimed at juniors of more than 20 local high schools to promote science and engineering disciplines as a career choice. It offers the students an opportunity to observe what engineers do on a daily basis, provide them with hands-on knowledge and encourage their pursuit of a science.

An Aviation and Missile Command operations officer will continue studies toward a doctoral degree with the help of a $4,000 academic scholarship award she received Aug. 6 during the annual Space and Missile Defense Symposium in Huntsville.
Capt. Maria Miranda applied for and won the 2019 Lt. Gen. Larry Dodgen Memorial University Scholarship, a program administered by the Air, Space and Missile Defense Association.

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama - Sixteen students experience the future of space travel in the Rocket City.
The students, recipients of an Air, Space, and Missile Defense Association, or ASMDA, scholarship, spent June 30-July 5 at Space Camp at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville. On July 3, the scholarship winners were treated to lunch by members of the ASMDA board and had a chance to speak with those who made the week possible.
